Netscape Version 6
- To start the mail client, first open up Netscape, then either
click on the envelope in the bottom left-hand corner of the window,
or select the "Mail" entry from the "Tasks"
menu at the top of your screen.
- If this is not your first time running
the mail client, you will need to click on the "Edit"
menu, then select "Mail/News Account Settings."
From within this window, click on the "New Account"
button on the bottom left. This will start the wizard, at the
next screen.
- If this is the first time you have
run the Netscape Mail client, you will be presented
with the 'New Account Setup' window. Keep the default of
"ISP or email provider", and click "Next"
to continue.
- Enter your full name in the "Your Name:" field. This is
the name that all sent messages will appear to be coming from. For your "Email
Address:" enter your Texas Broadband e-mail address. Click on "Next."
- Your Incoming Server is a POP server, and the server name is "mail.texasbb.com".
For your Outgoing Server, enter "smtp2.sjc.newedgenetworks.com".
Click "Next" to continue.
- Next, you will be prompted for your user name. Your user name is your whole
e-mail address. Thus, if your e-mail address is buckyfellini@texasbb.com,
then your user name is "buckyfellini@texasbb.com".
- The next screen is the "Account Name" screen. It is easiest
if you name the account something like "TexasBB" or "TexasBB
E-Mail". This is only a name by which you can reference the account,
and should be something indicative of what the mail account is.
- The final screen is a confirmation screen, and all you need
to do is click on the "Finish" button once you
have verified that your mail settings are similar to those below,
with the notable exception of the username and e-mail address,
which should be your own.
- Once you have clicked on "Finish", you may
be prompted with the following window:

If you plan on continuing to use Netscape Mail as your normal mail reader,
then check off the checkbox and click on the "Yes" button. Immediately,
Netscape Mail will contact the Texas Broadband mail server and try to download
your messages.
- You will be prompted to enter your password. If you would like
Netscape to automatically download your e-mail for you without
asking for a password each time, simply check off the "Use
Password Manager
" checkbox, enter your password,
and click "OK".

Congratulations! You have now set up Netscape Mail as your Texas Broadband
e-mail client.
